The department offers a balanced integration of both digital and analog technologies, incorporating tape- and disk-based systems. This hybrid approach enables students to develop a comprehensive and practical understanding of evolving audio practices, grounded in both traditional techniques and contemporary workflows.
Through a robust curriculum that blends theoretical foundations with intensive hands-on training, students engage in a wide range of interdisciplinary and sound- specific exercises. Conducted both within and beyond the sound specialization, these assignments are designed to deepen their understanding of core audio concepts through experiential learning. The department houses two state-of-the-art sound re-recording studios equipped with surround mixing facilities, along with two recording studios dedicated to music, dubbing, and effects recording. Its extensive equipment inventory includes studio and location microphones, portable analog and digital audio recorders, HDD-based workstations, advanced outboard effects processors, automated mixing systems, and a well-equipped electronics laboratory. With a strong emphasis on both technical proficiency and creative innovation, the Sound Department prepares students to become skilled and adaptable professionals, ready to shape the future of sound in cinema and allied media. The Master of Fine Arts in Cinema (Sound Recording and Sound Design) is a specialized program designed to equip students with advanced technical competencies and a strong foundation in the artistic principles essential for producing high-quality sound for film, television, and digital media.
