Center For Open Learning

Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune

The Centre for Open Learning (CFOL) is the outreach vertical of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. This initiative democratizes cinema education and provides quality cinema literacy to the masses. The outreach activities of the Institute began in 2017 as Skilling India in Film and Television (SKIFT), which is now integrated as CFOL.

Under CFOL, FTII organizes short courses in various aspects of filmmaking and television production. These are held online, offline, on-campus in Pune, and off-campus across the country. Courses are also conducted in the evenings and on weekends.

In association with State Governments, UT Administrations, and Educational Institutes, SKIFT/CFOL has conducted courses in 60+ cities, from Kargil to Car Nicobar Islands and Bikaner to Imphal, covering around 90 topics. Over 600+ short courses have been held, training about 18,000 participants, including international participants.

FTII also provides in-service training for Government employees, private organizations, and university students. It conducts Faculty Development and Train-the-Trainers programmes in Cinema and Television.

In 2022, FTII became the knowledge partner of the University of Ladakh and Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded, guiding them in launching certificate courses in Screen Acting, Smartphone Filmmaking, and more.
